Goal Statement: To provide the youth of Ankeny an opportunity to develop and improve their volleyball skills, participate in tournaments, and meet new people. AVBA tries to avoid conflict with School sanctioned activities and church activities at every reasonable opportunity.

Length of Season: Regular scheduled practices begin around January 2 and will continue until the State Tournament on March 30. Practice will be on Sundays during January and maybe once during the week depending on gym availability. During February and March, will practice twice a week if gyms are available. The AAU tournament schedule runs from January 29 through March 16, non-qualifying tournament weekend of March 22, and then the state tournament on March 29. All teams must qualify to play in the State Gold tournament.

Playing Time: All participants are guaranteed equal training time in practice to learn the sport of volleyball. The effort demonstrated in practice and the skills the player learns will help determine how much playing time occurs during tournaments. The goal of AVBA is to provide each participant as much playing time as possible during tournaments, but there are no guarantees.
